Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he cannot recall "one day without laughter".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive put a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public personalities offered divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making controversial remarks that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an aide should have stepped in when the choice to speak on the tragedy was made.
