Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
