Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared sympathy for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
